The emergence of secularism in the
Renaissance
Religion
was a significant driving force in middle age. People followed god and had
strong belief in god. They believed in afterlife and its connection with their
present life. With the advent of renaissance these thoughts were challenged and
the view of the society as a whole changed. Even though the religion was
practiced but people became more open and liberal. People now consider
themselves not as someone who is inferior to heaven but they started respecting
themselves. People were now more hopeful and positive. They started believing
in enjoying their life with whatever they had on this earth.
Secularism
was now much appreciated and its growth was tremendous. This was accepted
easily by religious leaders. They
believed that these views were not in accordance with the religion. It was only later in the 20th
century that they started believing that the religion can explain modern values
too. They started acknowledging the importance of religion in modern life and
its existence. There were different ideas on these thoughts floating around in
the world. They could easily debate in the church over these ideas. It was the time of the rebirth of a new idea
that would enhance the experience of human existence.
Earlier
when renaissance grew, it grew with the notion that god is the creator and it
is in his will to popularize any idea. But later people start acknowledging the
powers of a person. They start believing in themselves and that if they want to
achieve anything, it is possible. There was freedom in the thoughts. Artists
were free to explore and they could easily express their ideas. Church was no
longer popular. People started to appreciate other things too and artists on a personal
level became popular. They started exploring different avenues for example
structure of a human body. Leonardo started studying human body and he was a
magnificent painter. Creativity was acknowledged and praised. People could be
creative now because they were free. This period gave the people a golden
chance to explore different things around them and they became more aware.
